From your photo will emerge a beautiful likeness of your special "Pet with Personality". We will take colorful fabric and thread and turn it into a one of a kind art quilt that you will cherish for years to come. In this class you will learn everything you need to know about the process from beginning to end including how to prepare a pattern, piecing, thread painting and finishing your wonderful pet quilt. This class is perfect for beginners and advanced quilters alike!

Supplies Required for Workshop

You will be using a photo of your special pet to create your own art quilt. Depending on the size of the finished piece and if you wish to piece a background compared to just piecing your pet, the amount fabric you will need will vary greatly. To give you an idea of size, my Tilly quilt finished at 45" x 49". You can make whatever size you wish.

  • Favorite pet photo
  • Fabric
  • Fusible webbing
  • Sheer see through fabric for quilt base
  • Iron
  • Sharp scissors, preferably one large and one small
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Batting
  • Pins
  • Fabric marker or magic marker
  • Backing fabric
  • Binding or border fabric
  • Teflon or silicone ironing sheet(optional)
  • Muffin tins, cookie sheets
  • Internet connection to download Paint.NET program
