Metric Conversions

Here is a basic Metric Conversion table along with some links to other sites where conversions may be made for specific sizes.  We hope this is a help to our European students.  The links take you to shareware conversion programs.

First, some simple conversions:

1/4" (inch) 6.35 millimeters
1 inch 25.4 millimeters
4.5" 114.30 millimeters
1/4 yard .228 meters

LIQUID MEASURES

8 ounces .24 liters (1 cup)

An example listing in the table may be:
centimeters ----> inches ----> c.f.== .3937
(c.f. is just an abbreviation for conversion factor)

If you have 10 centimeters, just multiply by .3937 to get 3.937 inches.

If you have 10 inches and want to convert to centimeters, just multiply 10
inches by 1/.3937 [that is, 10 times (1 divided by .3937)] to get 25.40
centimeters.
